The CW’s reboot of Frequency and its new monster show Transylvania both feature female leads, who have now been cast with genre veterans.
The Tomorrow People, FlashForward and The Flash star Peyton List will be playing Raimy in the gender-swapped Frequency. According to the report at Deadline, Raimy is “a female police detective in 2016 who discovers that she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father, Frank Sullivan, also a detective, who died in 1996. The two forge a new relationship while working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences of the ‘butterfly effect’ wreak havoc in the present day.” Riley Smith will play Frank.
Transylvania will feature Australian actress Laura Brent as Victoria, described as “a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from New York City to Transylvania where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective, and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history.” The series is set in 1880. Brent previously appeared in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as Lilliandil (a role played on TV by Gabrielle Anwar, who went on to star in Burn Notice).
