Invisible ManJohnny Depp has been tapped to play the Invisible Man in Universal’s new series of horror movies.

According to the report at Deadline, Depp will be the headline star in the second of the new films in the series, following in the footsteps of Tom Cruise as The Mummy. The interconnected sequence is being masterminded by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, with Kurtzman directing The Mummy for a summer 2017 release. Kurtzman is also producing CBS’s new Star Trek series, although Bryan Fuller will be showrunning that.

There is no confirmation on a date for The Invisible Man, although a 2018 release would seem logical.
