With Helen Slater – Supergirl from the 1984 movie – established as Kara Danvers’ adopted mother in the new CBS Supergirl show (and former Superman Dean Cain as her father), it’s not really a surprise that Laura Vandervoort is turning up later this season.

Vandevoort – now best known as werewolf Elena Michaels in the Canadian show Bitten – appeared as Supergirl in later seasons of Smallville opposite Tom Welling. However, she’ll be one of the bad guys on the new Supergirl: she will play Indigo, described as “a living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.”

As yet no date has been given for Vandervoort’s appearance.
