Musical legend David Bowie has died aged 69.

According to a post on his official site: “10 January: David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.” His latest album was released two days before he died, on his 69th birthday.

Many of his acting roles were in the SFF genre, including the lead in The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Hunger as well as the goblin king in Labyrinth. He had been involved with Lazarus, a new stage version of The Man Who Fell to Earth, in the months before his death.
