Although genre films and TV series generally didn’t do that well, Outlander was the winner in the SF and Fantasy categories at the People’s Choice Awards, held on January 6.

Star Caitriona Balfe won Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress, while the show was the Favourite Cable TV Sci-Fi/Fantasy show. The recently cancelled Beauty & the Beast won the equivalent network award, while Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles was the Favourite Actor in the category.

Supergirl was judged Favourite New TV Drama, while Scream Queens was Favourite New TV Comedy.

Superhero and SF movies didn’t fare well, although Thor star Chris Hemsworth was voted Favourite Action Movie Actor, and The Martian was the Favourite Dramatic Movie.
