Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

With production expected to start on the mammoth adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower saga soon, Luther star Idris Elba is currently the favourite to play Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger at the heart of the tale.

According to Deadline, Elba’s Roland will face off against Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black who the Gunslinger is pursuing. Nikolaj Arcel will be directing the first movie and co-writing the latest version of the script with Anders Thomas Jensen. Sony and Media Rights Capital envisage the Dark Tower as a series of movies with a complementary TV series.

Elba will be seen next summer in Star Trek Beyond, the third of the rebooted 23rd Century adventures, a trailer for which American fans will be able to see before The Force Awakens.
