Despite quite a considerable drop-off in ratings its opening weeks, CBS has given a full season order – a further 7 shows – to superhero show Supergirl.

Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan star with David Harewood and Calista Flockhart in the show which has given a welcome positive spin to the Kryptonian adventures on screen, after the dourness of Man of Steel.

Supergirl airs at 8 on CBS on Mondays in the US, and 8 on Thursdays on Sky in the UK.
