Brides, a new reimagining of the Dracula story, has received a pilot production commitment from NBC.
Devised by comicbook writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and TV producer Greg Berlanti, Brides suggests that Dracula’s three brides weren’t killed by Van Helsing, as is normally the case, but survived and have moved to New York City, according to Deadline. The concept is described as “a sexy reimagining of Dracula as a family drama with a trio of strong, diverse female leads, a show about empowered women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their non-traditional family.”
The “hot gothic soap drama” will be the network’s latest attempt to revive the story, after its short-lived 2013 version.
