Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl is finally heading to the big screen, with Kenneth Branagh behind the camera for a Disney production.

The author confirmed the report from Variety on the Artemis Fowl Confidential YouTube account, noting that the screenplay will be written by Irish playwright Conor McPherson. “If this finally goes ahead, this will have been worth the wait,” Colfer added, although he added a note of caution, given the number of times a movie based on his Young Adult series about a very clever young thief has come close to fruition.
