Based on T.H. White’s book, which later formed part of The Once and Future King, the new Sword in the Stone will be penned by former Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman, who tweeted a picture of himself trying to pull the sword at Disneyland from its stone, captioning it “Research”.

The 1963 film was the last animated movie released before Walt Disney’s death. The story is central to the Arthurian legend, and appeared in both the recent BBC series and the radio adaptation of White’s masterpiece.
