guardians-of-the-galaxy-poster-1024x544There were no runaway successes at this year’s Saturn Awards, announced on June 25.

In the film categories, Guardians of the Galaxy and Interstellar both did well, while for TV, Hannibal, The Walking Dead, The Flash and Game of Thrones shared the honours. Best Films were Guardians of the Galaxy (Comic Book), Interstellar (SF), The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (Fantasy), Dracula Untold (Horror) with Chris Pratt and James Gunn also recognised for their contributions as star and director of Guardians. Chris and Jonathan Nolan, Hans Zimmer and the visual effects teams were among those who won for Interstellar.

In television, the recently cancelled Hannibal was voted Best Network Series, with The Walking Dead as Best Syndicated and Game of Thrones Best Limited Run. The Flash was the best superhero adaptation. Hannibal’s Hugh Dancy and The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln shared the Best TV Actor, with Outlander Caitriona Balfe awarded Best Actress.

The Dan Curtis Legacy Award was given to writer/producer Carlton Cuse and composer Bob Cobert received the Life Career Award.
