RedmayneEddie Redmayne will be playing magizoologist Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, set to be directed by David Yates.

According to Warner Bros. president of creative development Greg Silverman, Redmayne has “emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors,” and Warner Bros. are “thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance.”

The films are set 70 years before the Harry Potter series, and see Redmayne’s Scamander searching for creatures and preparing a volume which Potter and his friends use as a text book in the book and film series. J.K. Rowling has penned the screenplay.

  1. This comes as the surprise, well intention may be and I hopefully to be kept in the info loupe as this spot develops. Many know who Yates is, what he’s brought to the Potter lineage and now more involved than Columbus, Who I cherish as Dad with Harry Potter. The more mature man Yates will no doughty spare no expense to restart this limitless branch of JK’s Internal struggle with reality and fantasy. Good times Five is my response. And I mean little to the Blog-O-Sphere.
