SHIELD2.5Before the television networks’ upfront presentations of their new material for the upcoming season, ABC entertainment president Paul Lee explained why the mooted Agents of SHIELD spin-off featuring the adventures of Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter didn’t take off this season.

“We absolutely love those characters on SHIELD. We think SHIELD  hit its creative stride this year,” he told reporters. “We thought the right time now is to leave them on SHIELD because SHIELD is so strong on the moment.

This doesn’t preclude the spin-off happening in future. Lee did confirm that in addition to SHIELD and Agent Carter the network is preparing a further Marvel series, based around an existing character or property, with 12 Years a Slave writer-producer John Ridley.
