Pete Berg and Mark Wahlberg’s update of The Six Million Dollar Man has attracted an Oscar-nominated writer to pen the screenplay.
Damian Szifron, the writer and director of Wild Tales, will be creating the new version of Martin Caidin’s novel Cyborg, which was the basis for the long running TV series starring Lee Majors. In the 21st century, Steve Austin will be a military officer rather than a test pilot, who is “upgraded” following an accident to become half-man, half-machine.
“The themes surrounding this beloved property allow for the creation of a memorable sci-fi actioner as well as a bold spy thriller,” Szifron explained in a statement. “Expectations are high and I’ll do my best to deliver the strongest basis for an amazing cinematic experience.”
