A mere eleven days after its launch on Netflix, the first of their Marvel series, Daredevil has been renewed for a second season.
“Fisk was just the beginning. The first Defender is back for Season 2 of @Daredevil. #Daredevil” Netflix tweeted on the evening April 21 (a few hours after the first reviews for Avengers: Age of Ultron started to hit the web). Both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, respectively, and other cast members are expected to return.
There will be new showrunners, however. Steven S. DeKnight is handing over the baton to Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who contributed to the first year. “While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch,” DeKnight said in a statement . “They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.” Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb remain as executive producers.
