Agent Carter and Fleming star Dominic Cooper has signed up to play the titular Preacher in AMC’s adaptation of the comic book.
Cooper’s Jesse Custer is described as “a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says.” Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (SHIELD’s Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Misfits’ Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to find God.
The pilot by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg is based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
