At the Star Wars celebration in Anaheim on April 19, Lucasfilm revealed some details of the first official Star Wars spin-off film, Rogue One.
“A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One,” read the tweet from the official account to coincide with the announcement.
Set before Episode IV: A New Hope (the original Star Wars film), the short trailer shown at the convention featured a TIE fighter flying above a forest planet before revealing the Death Star. “The Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic, before the dark times, before the Empire,” says the voiceover.
“The thing that interests me about it, is Star Wars was basically very black and white. Our movie is grey,” director Gareth Edwards explained, adding that the film will shoot in the UK and around the world.
