With Hemlock Grove heading into its third and final season, Netflix has ordered a new supernatural drama, Montauk, from Hidden directors Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, executive produced by Shawn Levy.
Eight hour-long episodes will premiere in 2016. The series is described as “a love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation”, and is set1980 Montauk, Long Island, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. “As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.”
“Matt and Ross are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense,” Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP Original Content, explained. “Their unique voice infuses this coming-of-age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience.”
