Joss Whedon may have overseen the first phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s development, tying material into The Avengers and The Age of Ultron, but it’s the Russo Brothers who will be moving things forward thereafter.
The brothers, whose first Marvel movie was Captain America: The Winter Soldier, will be at the helm of the two parts of The Avengers: Infinity War, due out in 2018 and 2019, and it’s likely that they will take a similar approach to Whedon in ensuring that the standalone movies or sequels due out before then fit with their vision of Infinity War. What that means for their proposed Ghostbusters movie is uncertain at this stage.
