PratchettStoryteller extraordinaire Sir Terry Pratchett has died aged 66.

The news was given on his twitter feed and confirmed by his daughter Rhianna. “Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.”

The highly successful creator of the Discworld series had been suffering from Alzheimer’s and had been a vocal proponent of the right to die. He died at home with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family.

Neil Gaiman, with whom he wrote Good Omens, commented: “There was nobody like him. I was fortunate to have written a book with him, when we were younger, which taught me so much… I will miss you, Terry, so much.”
