In addition to the all-female Ghostbusters team announced recently, Sony has now revealed that it is preparing what Deadline describes as a “counterpart” to Paul Feig’s film which will be part of a branded approach to the universe from new company, Ghostcorps.
Ghostcorps will be based at Sony, and include original film participants Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd, with its remit to widen the fan base of the franchise. “We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment,” Reitman explained to Deadline. “My primary focus will be to build the Ghostbusters into the universe it always promised it might become. The original film is beloved, as is the cast, and we hope to create films we will continue to love.”
A fourth Ghostbusters film is being proposed, to be directed and produced by the Russo brothers, written by Iron Man 3’s Drew Pearce, and starring Channing Tatum.
