Intruders, the BBC America series based on the novel by Michael Marshall Smith, will not be returning for a second year.
Producer and adapter Glen Morgan confirmed the news on Twitter late on the evening of February 26: “Well, Reverti, this life is over. Intruders will live only in 8 episodes. We can’t thank those that supported us enough.. such an intelligent audience willing to be challenged and face tough questions. Hope we will all be triggered in 9 years. What goes around, comes around.”
In a blog post, Michael Marshall Smith explained that “for a variety of reasons the first season had to out-perform the norm in order to continue. Unfortunately it did not.” The series was faithful to the book, and expected the audience to wait for answers. “They didn’t sell the book short: they did it proud. As an novelist that makes you feel very privileged, and grateful.” The full post can be read here.
