Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

A new Alien movie is on the way, courtesy of District 9’s Neill Blomkamp, to be produced by the franchise’s original director, Ridley Scott.

“Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien” was the statement on Blomkamp’s Instagram account on February 18, confirming rumours that have been online for some months. According to Deadline, the story, which Blomkamp will develop, will be set after the forthcoming Prometheus 2.

There was considerable interest in the franchise last year to mark the 35th anniversary of the original film, with a trilogy of new novels, a new game and assorted retrospectives. No date has yet been assigned to the new movie’s release, nor is there confirmation whether Sigourney Weaver will be involved.
