Gary OwensGary Owens, whose voice was instantly recognisable to generations of American children for his appearances in everything from Space Ghost to Batman and Garfield, has died age 80.

Owens was best known to the older generation as the announcer on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and he had a long and successful career in radio broadcasting. He was one of the announcers on Sesame Street, and often was heard in movies and TV shows providing introductions or the news.

His work in animation also included Blue Falcon, Roger Ramjet, Powdered Toast Man, and Buzz Lightyear of Space Command amongst many others.
