Only a couple of days after Ghostbusters’ return was confirmed, NBC has given a pilot order to Strange Calls, a paranormal comedy based on an Australian series about someone else called in when there’s something strange in the neighbourhood.
The series follows an affable but down on his luck young police officer who is transferred to a rural town. With the help of a peculiar, elderly night watchman, he starts to realize the town has a bizarre supernatural underbelly…
The six-part Australian series The Strange Calls was broadcast in 2012, based on a short film of the same name from the previous year. Cougar Town‘s Blake McCormick is the writer for the US version – the second time a pilot has been ordered, although ABC were unable to cast the leads last time.
