AMC has picked up Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s take on the cult comic book series Preacher to pilot.

Breaking Bad’s Sam Catlin wrote the script, based on the series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and will be showrunner if it goes forward. “Preacher has been our favorite comic since it first came out,” Rogen and Goldberg said. “Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it’s an incredible honour to be working on this. We promise we won’t make too many dick jokes and ruin it.”

The TV version is described as following Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven so can make anyone do anything he says. Along with his former girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God.
