Bradley James is moving from being The Once and Future King to playing the Antichrist himself in Lifetime’s sequel to the Omen films, Damien, according to a report at Deadline.

The star of the BBC Merlin series will appear as Damien Thorn in the six episode miniseries, written by Glen Mazzara with the first episode directed by Elizabeth’s Shekar Kapur.

The description of the series at Deadline suggests that this is a direct sequel to the first Omen film (remade in 2006): it follows “the adult life of Damien Thorn … who has grown up, seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist, the most feared man throughout the ages.”

His co-star, Colin Morgan, will soon be heard in the Radio 4 adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens.
