Ridley Scott won’t be directing the long-awaited sequel to his 1982 film, Blade Runner, according to an interview he gave to Variety to promote his new film Exodus: Gods and Kings.
Talking about upcoming films, including the movie of Andy Weir’s The Martian, Scott explained that he and the sequel’s co-screenwriter Hampton Fincher “talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one.” However, he did say that he will only be producing the film.
He did confirm that Harrison Ford will be back in the film: “Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.”
The as yet untitled Blade Runner sequel is set to begin filming within the next year. The full Variety interview can be read here
