Globalfrequency 01Farscape creator Rockne S. O’Bannon is adapting Warren Ellis’ Global Frequency for Jerry Bruckheimer TV and Warner Bros. TV with Fox giving the project a put pilot commitment.

The original Vertigo comic book series appeared between December 2002 and August 2004, and followed the exploits of the Global Frequency, an independent covert intelligence organisation, led by a former spy known only as Miranda Zero. Their job is to prevent innocents from suffering the consequences of various secret projects set up by world governments. A TV pilot was prepared by Mark Burnett in 2005, with Star Trek’s Michelle Forbes and Josh Hopkins but was not picked up; plans for a further adaptation in 2009 didn’t come to anything.

The new version “will chronicle the workings of The Global Frequency, a privately funded crime-fighting operation that uses worldwide crowd-sourcing to solve crimes the police cannot”, according to Deadline.
