TalismanThe long-awaited third volume in the Jack Sawyer story from master horror writers Stephen King and Peter Straub looks set to be written next year.

Sawyer first appears as a young boy, whose mother is seriously ill; he has the ability to travel in the Territories, a parallel world to our own where everyone has their own Twinner. The character first appeared in The Talisman, written by King and Straub in 1984; a sequel, Black House, arrived in September 2001 (unfortunately published on the 12th – as King pointed out, not a day when people were focusing on a serial killer book).

A television adaptation has been regularly mooted but has never got anywhere; the first six issues of a proposed 24-issue series were published in 2009 before the book was cancelled.

While promoting his new novel, Revival (see our review here) in Washington DC on November 12, King announced that he had worked out the framework for the third book, and he and Straub hope to write it next year. Lilja’s Library, the key King fansite, has confirmed this with Straub.
