Frankenstein is coming to Fox, courtesy of former X-Files and Buffy producer Howard Gordon, and Crisis’ Rand Ravich.
It’s not a proper retelling of Mary Shelley’s story, but yet another update. According to Deadline, this new Frankenstein focuses on on Adam Tremble, “a morally corrupt FBI agent who is given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. Now younger and stronger, Tremble will have to choose between his old temptations and his new sense of purpose — dealing with threats beyond the FBI’s capabilities. All the while navigating the complicated relationship with his ‘creators’: an antisocial Internet billionaire and his bio-engineer twin sister.”
Fox have given a put pilot commitment to the series from 20th TV and Teakwood Lane Productions.
Those seeking a version closer to Shelley’s should get the Big Finish audio, out at Halloween, or Richard Campbell’s metal opera. Other potential modern updates include the recently optioned Broken, and Dean Koontz’s version.
