Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

Mr Selfridge star Poppy Lee Friar has been cast as robot Eve in CBBC’s new 13 part series, airing next year.

The series, which completed filming in Glasgow recently, follows the adventures of a robot living with a family in suburbia and trying to make sense of human life as a teenage girl. Friar will star alongside Jane Asher who plays Mary Douglas, “a maverick genius scientist”. Other cast include teenagers Oliver Woollford and Eubha Akilade.

According to CBBC executive producer Sue Nott, “Eve’s attempts to discover the essence of being human will resonate with every child trying to find their place in the world. With its heady mix of adventure, mystery and sheer fun, Eve is an exciting addition to the CBBC drama slate.”
