King Kong is coming back to America!
Netflix has ordered a movie length story and 12 additional half hour episodes of Kong – King of the Apes from former Marvel Studios chief Avi Arad.
The series will be set in San Francisco in 2050; according to the Hollywood Reporter, “Alcatraz Island has been transformed into a natural history and marine preserve, but chaos ensues when Kong becomes public enemy No. 1. The villain that framed him unleashes an army of gigantic robotic dinosaurs on the world and Kong is the only creature strong enough to stop them. He enlists the help of three young humans, who risk their lives to help Kong evade capture.”
“I always loved King Kong. This is a unique opportunity to introduce him in brilliant CGI animation to kids worldwide with the power of Netflix,” Arad explained.
The great ape is also set to appear in the new Legendary Pictures movie, Skull Island.
