Although it’s by no means as done a deal as some reports might indicate, things are looking hopeful that Supergirl will be heading to the small screen, courtesy of Arrow and The Flash‘s Greg Berlanti.
The series is based on a proposal by Berlanti and his No Ordinary Family colleague Ali Adler and would feature a new interpretation of the character of Supergirl. Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti’s production company are expected to start pitching the idea shortly to networks, in the hope of the same sort of reception that Gotham gained at Fox last year.
The most recent live-action version of Supergirl was on Smallville, with Bitten‘s Laura Vandervoort playing the role; Helen Slater played her on the big screen in 1984.
The character first appeared in comics in 1959 and continues in adventures in DC’s most recent reboot of their continuity.
