SherlockAlthough Breaking Bad and Modern Family were undeniably the victors at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, held on August 25th, both Sherlock and American Horror Story had notable successes in the category for which both were nominated.

Sherlock added three more Emmys to the four it won at the Creative awards last week with Benedict Cumberbatch winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie; Martin Freeman gaining Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie; and Steven Moffat winning Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries or Movie.

American Horror Story: Coven took away the female equivalents of Cumberbatch and Freeman’s awards, with Jessica Lange receiving Outstanding Lead Actress and Kathy Bates winning Outstanding Supporting Actress.
