After considerable delays on the project, Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is finally heading for the big screen, with production due to start in September, according to a report at Deadline.
Lily James, Sam Riley and Bella Heathcote are now set to star in the film to be directed by Burt Steers from a screenplay he co-wrote with David O. Russell. James will play Elizabeth Bennett, with Riley as Mr Darcy, and Heathcote as one of Elizabeth’s four sisters.
Delays have been caused by changes in directors: Russell was set to direct at one point, as were Mike White and Craig Gillespie, before Steers came on board.
The original novel, published by Quirk Books, has inspired various sequels. prequels and other mash-ups of classic literature and horror tropes.
