Star Trek/Transformers writer Alex Kurtzman and The Fast and the Furious franchise scripter Chris Morgan will be revitalising Universal’s classic roster of horror characters, according to a report at Deadline.

The idea is that the films will be interconnected in a similar way to the Marvel Universe, starting with a new version of The Mummy, to come out in 2016.  Horror icons involved in this new series of films will probably include Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature From The Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, and The Bride Of Frankenstein.

It is unclear if Kurtzman and Morgan will be penning the films themselves, or just overseeing all aspects of the project but Deadline notes that they have started taking meetings with other creative forces to work on a slate of Monster films.
