Comedian and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar is joining in the Doctor’s final battle of series 8, it has just been announced.

Bhaskar, who recently was seen in a reunion episode of his comedy series Goodness Gracious Me, will play a character who comes to the Doctor’s aid, according to Steven Moffat.  “I’m completely thrilled that Sanjeev Bhaskar is coming to the aid of the Doctor. The danger is never deadlier than in a finale episode, and the Time Lord is going to need all the help he can get!” he explained.

The actor commented, “I’m thrilled to have made a small contribution to and now be part of the Doctor Who universe. Another dream box ticked!” On Twitter, he added, “So. I can finally reveal that I’ve spent part of this week flying about w/ this guy” showing a publicity shot of Peter Capaldi.

Pictures from location filming for the finale – which show the foe the Doctor will be facing – have been widely available on the internet over the past few days.
