MagiciansSyfy has given the green light to a pilot based on Lev Grossman’s fantasy trilogy The Magicians, according to a report at Deadline.

The pilot for the proposed one-hour series, from Universal Cable Productions, has been penned by John McNamara  and Supernatural‘s Sera Gamble. This is producer Michael London’s second attempt to bring the trilogy, published from 2009 onwards, to the small screen: Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz were involved with the project when it was acquired by Fox in 2011, but that version stalled.

The books – The Magicians, The Magician King, and The Magician’s Land – follow a group of students who find out that the magical land they read about in a series of books published in the 1930s is actually real. The third book is due out in August.
