Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

Green Wing and Bad Education’s Michelle Gomez is joining the eighth series of Doctor Who playing a character called the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere.

Little is known about the character – the BBC don’t even state which episode she is appearing in – beyond the fact she is appearing with the Cybermen (if an on-set picture released by the BBC of her, Capaldi and a group of the latest upgrades of Cybermen can be taken at face value).

Gomez commented: “Well of course Peter Capaldi is our next Doctor, which makes complete sense. I’m thrilled to join him. Well, you would be, wouldn’t you?”

Lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, added: “I’ve known Michelle for years, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to Doctor Who. She’s everything we need – brilliant, Scottish, and a tiny bit satanic.”
