Star_Wars_Logo_svgAccording to a report at Deadline, Looper’s Rian Johnson will be taking over the helm of the Star Wars saga from J.J. Abrams for the final two parts of the third trilogy.

The site reports that Johnson is going to be working initially on a treatment for the second film, but the intention is that he will take responsibility for the franchise. The director has yet to respond to the story, but he has apparently posted a short clip from the movie The Right Stuff which indicates his desire not to f*** up the job he’s about to do.

J.J. Abrams is currently shooting Episode VII, minus Harrison Ford who is recovering from a broken leg. The official Star Wars site has yet to provide a confirmation or denial of the story.
