Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who devised the long-running young Superman series Smallville, have sold a script about Jules Verne’s legendary hero Captain Nemo to Columbia, according to a report at the Hollywood Reporter.
Maleficent producers Joe Roth and Palak Patel are linked as producers, with Gough and Millar acting as executive producers.
In addition to Smallville, Gough and Millar worked on Spider-Man 2, the third Mummy film and I Am Number Four.
Verne’s creation is also likely to be seen in Disney’s proposed remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea – James Mason (pictured) starred as the captain in the original 1954 movie.
