After it’s taken over $103 million internationally, and $93 million in America, it’s hardly surprising that Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have confirmed that they’re already working on a sequel to the monster hit.
Gareth Edwards’ movie is expected to far surpass the total of $379 million grossed by the last Godzilla film, Roland Emmerich’s much-panned 1998 version.
“It’s very validating,” Legendary president and chief creative officer Jon Jashni told Variety. “You can’t ask for a better situation when you have a group of people, who were perhaps expecting to be let down were impressed. It all lines up when that eco-system aligns and starts feeding off itself.”
