agent carter logoABC is not just picking up Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD for a second season – to the surprise of some, who thought that the show’s ratings wouldn’t justify a renewal – but is adding the adventures of Captain America’s Agent Carter to its line up.

Agent Carter will go straight to series with Hayley Atwell reprising her role from the Captain America films. Set in 1946, peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.

SHIELD will continue to deal with the fallout from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
