Chuck Wendig’s series of novels featuring Miriam Black – a young woman who is cursed with a gift which means she knows how the people she meets are going to die once she touches them – is coming to Starz.
The three books, all named after birds and published by Angry Robot, will form the basis of the series, Blackbirds, which will be executive produced and written by former X-Files writer and Breaking Bad/Hell on Wheels producer John Shiban, who is also taking over Da Vinci’s Demons as showrunner. David Knoller will be co-executive producer.
On his blog, Wendig notes that there’s “no guarantee you’ll see it happen, of course, but I can tell you that what they’ve put together so far is an amazing — and appropriately faithful — adaptation of the book. They grok Miriam. Further, Starz is a helluva network. They’re a crafty, confident, and capable company.”
