Despite the recent death of Harold Ramis, a third instalment of the Ghostbusters saga is set to begin filming early next year, according to a report at Deadline.
Although he has been a driving force behind the return of the series to the big screen, director Ivan Reitman has decided just to produce the next movie. According to Amy Pascal at Sony, Reitman “confirmed… that while he was excited to return and make the movie as producer, but did not feel he wanted to direct the movie.”
The new film will feature a new team of Ghostbusters, with the original characters playing a minor role. “We are determined to retain the spirit of the original film,” Reitman said. The script is by Etan Cohen, with input from original star Dan Ackroyd and Reitman.
