Southlands and The OC star Ben McKenzie has been signed up to play a young James Gordon in Fox’s pre-Batman drama Gotham.
In this version of the Dark Knight’s mythos, Gordon is an idealistic rookie detective for Gotham City Open Police Department’s Homicide Squad, a former college football star and a war hero. McKenzie headlined the four years of The OC before moving over to Southlands, both shows, like Gotham, for Warner Bros. TV.
The series will include a younger version of Bruce Wayne, although as yet no casting has been announced for the junior Batman; Gotham is written and executive produced by Bruno Heller with Danny Cannon directing and executive producing the pilot.
