High RiseKill List director Ben Wheatley has confirmed that his long awaited adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s classic story High-Rise is now in front of the cameras.

Thor’sTom Hiddleston will star in the movie, about the degeneration of life in a modern luxury building.

Wheatley was signed up for the film in August last year, and has recently been working on the first two episodes of Peter Capaldi’s reign as the 12th Doctor on Doctor Who, describing the stories as something of a return to the style of the classic era of the show in an interview with io9.

His version of High-Rise, which he says will take him “straight back to the dark shit”, is set at the time of the book’s publication, 1975. The script by Amy Jump is “very close to the book.”
