The CW has ordered a pilot for its latest foray into the fantasy genre, The Messengers, about a group of unconnected strangers who discover that they are responsible for preventing the upcoming Apocalypse.

The script by Teen Wolf’s Eoghan O’Donnell will be produced by Clash of the Titans’ Basil Iwanyk and CBS Studios.

The story begins with a mysterious object crashing to Earth, and the resultant energy pulse kills a group of people. When they wake, they learn their new destiny.
