Ghost in ShellSnow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders has been hired to direct the live action version of the manga tale Ghost in the Shell for Dreamworks, according to a report at Deadline.

Steven Spielberg has had a particular interest in the manga created by Masamune Shirow, and Dreamworks bought the rights back in 2008 with Jamie Moss and then Laeta Kalogridis connected as writers. The latest script is by William Wheeler.

Set in New Port City (aka Niihama Prefecture), Ghost in the Shell follows the members of special operations task force Public Security Section 9, and especially Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg who uses a full body prosthesis to house her brain.
